Zonya Foco, RD, CSP, has made it her mission to make nutrition exciting, fun, and life-changing. Zonya knows the typical American family -- she is the "Lickety-Split Queen" with fast, creative ideas to get dinner on the table or a healthy snack in the tummy. People can see what makes Zonya tick on her PBS Show, "Zonya’s Health Bites," now in its third season. This is not just a cooking show, although she does demo healthy and quick recipes from her book, "Lickety-Split Meals for Health Conscious People on the Go." She also takes you into the grocery store aisles to help you make wiser choices, the gym (and other places) for exercise ideas and into the homes of people who have succeeded in adapting healthy habits.

Healthy habits are also the topic of her new book, "Water With Lemon," a health novel. It's not a diet. You don't have to do any math. And there's nothing to give up so there's no guilt. This book is about eating -- eating to gain health, eating to increase energy, eating to lose weight. It's about transforming food from being your enemy into becoming your ally.

Zonya is on a mission to win the war on obesity, diabetes and heart disease. With any audience, Zonya’s goal is to provide people with the information and resources they need to be fully successful. Her favorite motto is, "Knowledge is power and you have choices." Energy, stress solutions, heart health, weight loss, cancer prevention, and diabetes are all topics she tackles. Another hot topic today is children and the obesity epidemic. Her ideas on this topic can make a huge difference in your community. This is the woman who dared to tackle the diet book authors, and isn’t afraid to take on the food industry, whether it’s trans fats or food colorings.

An expert on nutrition and wellness, television personality and author, Zonya earned her BS in Dietetics and is a Registered Dietitian with the American Dietetics Association. She is also a certified health and fitness instructor with the American College of Sports Medicine.

Prior to becoming an international speaker, Zonya worked for eight years as a clinical nutritionist for the Michigan Heart and Vascular Institute at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She led the work-site nutrition wellness programs, provided counseling for weight and cholesterol control and taught weekly weight/cholesterol workshops. For four years she was a guest lecturer at her alma mater, Eastern Michigan University.

Her interest in becoming a dietitian came from her own struggle with weight in her high school and college years. Her inspiration for the cookbook came from her experience as the family cook one fortuitous summer, and later, from her clients who said, "Zonya, I would do that, if you would show me how."
