Pat Wynn Brown Fee Range: $2,500 - $3,500 Speaker's Home Base: OH Oprah has said it emphatically. Katie Couric has exclaimed it repeatedly, with fervor. We all know it’s true…..It’s all about the hair! And what humorist, author and actress Pat Wynn Brown has discovered through her Hair Theater® episodes, is that almost anything in life can be explained, comically, through the evolution and ups and downs of our good and bad hair days. Pat Wynn Brown’s hilarious and poignant performances play to sold out audiences. With a variety of themes, Pat tells her true life stories, offers her takes on popular culture, advises on better living through humor principles, and comments on society in general through the magic of her bouffant hairdo, wit, and clever insights. And best yet, at every performance she saves a life. The comment Pat never tires of hearing after a performance is, “I laughed so hard my face hurt.” The other equally fulfilling show assessment is, “I needed that laugh more than you’ll ever know. I haven’t laughed like that in a long time.” Wondering what Hair Theater® is exactly? Simply put, it is chit-chat performance art that revolves around the wonders of hair, whether it’s there or not, yours or store bought. Because after all, our hair is not solely a matter of vanity, it is a matter of identity. We choose our hairdos to match our hopes and dreams. And scientists have proven, we are not just discouraged by bad hair days (or no hair days), our productivity is adversely affected too. After all, one single strand of hair can be used to convict you of murder. And let’s hope you’ll never have to pluck one for that! Pat is a baby boomer from the era of big hair and great music so her sense of humor may result from the ingestion of too much hairspray, sleeping on brush rollers, and suffering at her mother’s hands from multiple Toni Home Permanents. Despite this toxic damage to her brain, she is a three-time winner of the James Thurber Summer Writing Contest, a featured humorist on the PBS-TV documentary about the life and work of Erma Bombeck, and she is a former humor columnist and author of two books -- Hair-A-Baloo and Momma Culpa. Pat is also a former radio comic and was a Rockette for one shining day. She is a member of the National Speakers Association. Her philanthropic work involves a wig and hat fund for women going through chemotherapy in Central Ohio and who are in financial need. For this work, she was named a finalist by Business First as a “Health Care Hero.” She was acclaimed by Sunny 95 Radio as an “Outstanding Woman You Should Know.” It came as a complete shock to Pat when she was also inducted into her high school Hall of Fame (for the same antics and acting up for which she previously received detentions). Laughter raises spirits and when women leave Pat’s audience they look 10 years younger. When our spirits are raised we look radiant. With a wink and a smile, Pat says this kind of fun is much easier than getting that special glow from pregnancy. MOST POPULAR TOPICS General Entertainment for Women’s Days and Wellness: “If Your Hairdos Could Talk” If your hairdos could talk, what would they say about the YOU under your ‘doo? Remembering those childhood hopes and dreams. Laughing our way through our hairdo histories. Resolving to live our best lives. Cancer Survivor Events: “Much Ado About Hairdos” Surviving cancer is more about thriving and laughter is the key ingredient for the recipe of a full life. Pat is a (malignant melanoma) cancer survivor and is a proponent of “Good HERE Days” through living, laughing, and learning. When Pat was diagnosed, the first thing she thought about was losing her hair, the second thing she thought about was her mortality… in that order. She did not lose her hair but now she helps women who have through a charitable wig fund. Heart Health: “Hair is at the Heart of it All” If we paid as much attention to our heart health as we do our hairdos, we’d all live to be 100. Heart disease is the number one killer of women. Pat takes us through our self-care paces through her funny real life stories and helps everyone in the audience laugh their tension away, and as a bonus, to become the Supremes. We all need to STOP and take care of ourselves in the name of love. Philanthropy: “Backstage at Hair Theater: Lights! Camera! Positive Action!” It is our honor and privilege to help others. Pat does this through a wig fund for women in financial need. She started with $100 in a white envelope. Since 2001, over 500 women have been helped in Central Ohio to the tune of $120,000.
